Here is some of what is happening inside our home to prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birthday…DH has once again successfully acquired a beautiful tree that we have decked out with purple lights. Our temporary tree skirt is simple purple cloth. The manger takes front and center, standing empty in anticipation of the arrival of Mary and Joseph. Also hung is the Advent wreath above the dining table, and our wooden Advent calendar sits atop my desk. The seasonal music and reading books have been set out, and other greenery will be put up throughout the house, which will either remain plain or have purple lights until Gaudete Sunday. The stockings will be hung with care – somewhere! – to invite St. Nicholas to visit us on his feast day, December 6th. Of course, I can’t forget to give kudos to my DH on the outdoor lights being in place as well. The calendar is full of special feast days and parties, and the kids are looking forward to confession, gift wrapping, decorating cookies and the classic Christmas shows and movies that always air this time of year.
